Hasbanny Irisson

Coding Practitioner in Residence

Passionate about using technology to advocate for gender equality and immigration, Hasbanny has dedicated most of her time volunteering with non-profit organizations dedicated to helping women and undocumented immigrants. She volunteers at Mujeres Unidas to help battered women recover from toxic masculinity, while also advocating for gender equality in the tech industry by being a mentor at PyLadiesRGV. More recently, Hasbanny is a web developer for Rise First, where she hopes to integrate resources specifically designed for DACA and undocumented students to encourage higher education in these communities. She is pursuing a MS in Computer Science at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley as a Graduate Sustainability Fellow and a David C. Lizarraga Fellow. As a Coding Practitioner in Residence, she hopes to encourage and inspire undocumented youth towards STEM related careers.
